The Citizens eased into the Champions League quarterfinals with a 10-2 aggregate win over Schalke.
Top-scorer Sergio Aguero sent his side on their way to a 7-0 win with a penalty.
And he slotted the set piece in style, chipping the ball away from Ralf Fahrmann – known as a panenka penalty.
His international team-mate, Messi, also scored from the spot last night as Barcelona saw off Lyon 5-1.
And footage has emerged of the reaction on BT Sport to the Argentine’s goal.
In the clip, the 31-year-old has just put chipped the ball down the middle.
Commentator Peter Drury gasps in awe of the ease with which Messi put Barcelona ahead.
And the BT Sport man then makes a very bold claim.
“Only him, only him,” Drury says.
“The guy is beyond human. Remarkable execution.
“And Barcelona have their lead.”
But City fans felt this was very similar to their own Argentine forward’s effort, slamming the commentator for his exaggeration.
“Commentator acting as if nobody has scored a panenka in the last 10 years,” they said.
And a fourth added: “Drury reacting like he invented it.
This comes as Rio Ferdinand claimed City are favourites for the Champions League title if they keep one player fit.
