Barca getting ready for life without Messi


Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu says the club’s trade activity is a sign they are preparing for life after Lionel Messi.

Barca a month prior confirmed the £65m stamping of 21-year-old midfielder Frenkie de Jong from Ajax.

Messi, 31, has scored 581 targets in 664 entertainments for Barcelona.

“I know one day Lionel will say he’s leaving,” Bartomeu told the 5 live Football Daily Podcast’s Guillem Balague.

Messi still has an extra two years left on his present contract and Bartomeu said his retirement was “a while away yet”.

Regardless, the 25-time La Liga champions are looking players to convey the club into another period to ensure their continued with advancement.

“We have to set up the club for the future,” included Bartomeu, who is a result of endeavor down as president in 2021.

“We are passing on remarkable young players to the gathering since we need to continue with this season of advancement. That is our obligation.

“My request will be done in two seasons. So I need to leave the club in an unfathomable position and tell the new president ‘that is our legacy’.”
